Re: ‘Scientist had to stay quiet’ (Daily News, July 30)
The public has a unique opportunity to watch the ‘muzzled’ salmon scientist testify before the Cohen Commission in a few weeks.
Dr. Kristi Miller will take the witness stand on Aug. 24 during the ‘diseases’ evidentiary hearing in Vancouver. Other witnesses scheduled to testify during the ‘Aquaculture’ hearing include Alexandra Morton and the Norwegian-owned salmon farming companies Marine Harvest, Cermaq and Grieg on Sept.7 and 8. Sadly, the public and media have ignored the Cohen Commission of Inquiry into the decline of sockeye salmon in the Fraser River. Since the inquiry started in October last year most of the 130 seats in the public gallery have sat empty.
This is the last chance for the public to show their support for wild salmon before Cohen writes his report for publication in June 2012. Come and judge for yourselves what Stephen Harper and the Conservative government have fought so hard behind the scenes to suppress. Find out why Nanaimo’s Dr. Kristi Miller was forced to stay quiet.
